Time to talk to the maker.

Posted by & filed under , .

I’ve spoken to Wouxun in China over Skype and have sent them the list of deficiencies that we have all had.  I will be sending them video of the RF noise coming from the alternator that I don’t get with my other Kenwood or ICOM rigs as well as some tips on how to improve the channel naming.  I currently find the whole, up arrow to select and down arrow to move right a tad silly.

I’ve suggested to them to have up and down arrows to select the char and maybe the 0 key for moving to the right.

I’ll keep you all posted of the outcome.

Are they saying you can update the firmware? Several of the china radios have “burned” chips that cannot be updated. It also seems odd that you seem to be the only one posting any information at all – Including importcommunications.com. Although, their silence may just be letting the few that got them form their own opinions. It would be nice to hear from a few others. I guess we will have to continue to wait and see with this one.

They have been quite hush hush about the methods to update the radio. I am posting some videos today of the functionality ie: Cross-Band repeat, DC Hum on the audio when used mobile ect. Sometimes it’s hard to get your point across when neither of you natively speak the other persons language.

I don’t think it will cross band to a repeater. I’ve heard two resellers say otherwise but then nothing. Maybe Wouxun has ‘requested’ their silence. I do get some hum as well. Other than that it seems to work well.
